Tokyo Olympic 2021

オリンピックもいよいよクライマックスですね！選手の一所懸命な姿を見ていると、座って見てるだけの私までやる気が出てきます。私はサッカーが好きなので、日本代表が出場する時は早起きしてライブで観戦しています。ストリーミングは試合開始と同時に始まるので国歌を聴けないのが残念。でも普段テレビやDAZNなどでも日本代表の試合を全く観戦できないので、観れるだけで十分幸せですね。

Tokyo Olympic is heating up to the climax! Even I get very motivated while I watch the athletes who give everything they’ve got. I like soccer, so I get up early in the morning to watch Japan games. It’s too bad that the streaming starts right at the starting time. I miss listening to Japanese National anthem before the game starts. Because that’s why you fire up your patriotism. I must feel happy just to be able to watch the national team play though, which I can’t usually.

開会式では多様性と調和のテーマを伝統と現代アートの融合で表現し、女性をリーダーにというメッセージがよく伝わってきました。一般人も参加して派手さを抑え背伸びせず、超人的なスポーツ大会を「日常」に戻して、パンデミックでみんなが感じた「日常が何より特別」という共通の思いを表現したように思いました。

　The ceremony expressed diversity and harmony through Japanese traditional and contemporary art. Expression wasn’t over the top, but down to earth by using ordinary people and everyday outfits. It felt like the super human event came back to the ordinary, which we all felt as special during the pandemic. I thought the ceremony was humanitarian and wonderful.

私はシンガー、カヒミカリィさんのファンなので、彼女の旦那様でタップダンサーの熊谷和徳さんが登場した時、驚きと喜びで思わず声をあげてしまいました。タップと大工さんの音が調和してとても素敵でしたね！釘を使わず組み合わされる木の五輪や形のない赤いレーザーなど、繋がりを表現している点も好きでした。

I’m a fan of the musician, Kahimi Karie. So when her husband, Kazunori Kumagai appeared on stage and started tap dancing I felt so delighted with joy! It was such a perfect harmony of tap dancing and Japanese carpentry. There are many opinions toward this Olympic, but I’d like to cheer for all the athletes.

見どころ満載のセレモニーでしたが、中でも橋本聖子さんの熱いメッセージ、王貞治さんと松井秀喜さんに支えられ登場した長島茂さん。言葉以上の思いが伝わってきて感動しました。

いろんな意見があるけれど、世界が一つになる祭典。参加する選手を最後まで応援したいです。
