極寒

私の住む州はとても寒い。寒いというよりはむしろ痛いぐらい。−30度以下では露出した皮膚は凍るように固まり、息をすればむせます。でも寒ければ寒いほど空は青く空気は澄んで、大地は白い雪に覆われ美しい景色に包まれます。全てがリセットされるようで、ごちゃごちゃな私の頭の中もスッキリ。

The province of Saskatchewan is extremely cold. It’s more like painfully cold. The bare skin will freeze and harden below -30C° and when you breathe you’d cough. But the colder it gets, the clearer and bluer the sky looks. The vast field is covered with pure white. You’ll be surrounded by indescribable beauty. It resets everything around you and my messed up mind becomes as clear as ever.
